Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

A friendly reminder regarding spoilers! At present the expanded Trek universe is in a period of major upheaval with the continuations of Discovery and Prodigy, the advent of new eras in gaming with the Star Trek Adventures RPG, Star Trek: Infinite and Star Trek Online, as well as other post-57th Anniversary publications such as the ongoing IDW Star Trek comic and spin-off Star Trek: Defiant. Therefore, please be courteous to other users who may not be aware of current developments by using the {{spoiler}}, {{spoilers}} OR {{majorspoiler}} tags when adding new information from sources less than six months old (even if it is minor info). Transcendence

In your recent edits, you make referance to a novel titled Transcendence. I can make neither heads nor tails of it. [Psiphi.org] hasn't heard of it, but if it's fan-fiction, I can't find an online reference to it. Would you please describe this source to me? --Chops 02:14, 30 Nov 2005 (UTC)

2nd request: What is Transcendence? --Chops 05:13, 1 Dec 2005 (UTC)
Not sure why he hasn't answered. He either doesn't know how or doesn't feel like it, so I'll answer for him.
Transcendence is sort of a microcosm of Star Trek itself. It was published before its time, canceled before its time and only remembered because it has a small but loyal fanbase. Basicly, it was a tale of the Dominion War before the series "Tales of the Dominion War" made it fashionable to be so. Nobody wanted to read about the war so soon after DS9. One of the reasons it has aquired a colt following was that it centered around a character who happens to have aquired a colt following, Robin Lefler.
Even though I didn't particularly like the book, I've learned not to argue with people who do, because they tend to defend it religiously.
I'm still not sure if I'm clear on this. Who published Transcendence?
Also, Starfleet Engineering Academy has been added to New York City. Is this from Transcendence, or another source? Is it actually in the city, or should it be placed in New York instead?
