The vessel with the registry NCC-2071 was a Federation starship in Starfleet service in the late 23rd century.
In the year 2285, the vessel was docked at Earth Spacedock when the USS Excelsior arrived from the mirror universe. (TOS - The Mirror Universe Saga comic: "Homecoming...")
Since only the saucer section of the NCC-2071 was visible, the design of the stardrive section of the ship isn't clear from the brief, one-panel appearance.
